Will someone help me complete the forms?

Yes, Eco Standard has dedicated staff to assist you when requested

When I have paid for my assessment, am I guaranteed an eco label?

If you achieve less than 4 stars you will be given 3 months to meet the requirements and will receive a fee re-assessment

Is the standard internationally recognised?

Yes, the criteria has been designed in accordance to the international standard of SANS14024

Does GBCSA recognise Eco Standard?

If your product has achieved an eco label certification your product may attributes towards points under the materials category in the Green Star environmental rating tool for buildings, but GBCSA will still require you to prove your environmental claims with supporting documentation

How long can I carry the eco label for?

Your eco label is valid for 1yr, an annual renewal fee which includes a re-audit are required to maintain your certification.

Can I put the label on my product?

Yes. Only an Eco Product certification may attach they label to their products.

If I improve the environmental benefits of my product after the assessment, could that positively affect my rating score?

Yes. All innovations done to your product will be checked at the annual re-audit.

Why do I need an eco label, can’t I just say it’s eco friendly?

Saying a product is green is different from being able to prove that it is green.

Being certified shows your willingness to comply with an environmental standard.

Will my product be present on your website?

Yes. All assessed companies have a self managed profile on our website.

Who accesses your website?

The website will serve as an environmental information hub where corporations, government, developers, architects, builders, designers, quantity surveyors and the general public can access all specifications on all assessed products, manufactures and service providers
