Vision
Eco Standard South Africa’s vision is to be the trusted certification body to set environmental standards of excellence to measure and rate a product, manufacturer and or service provider within the building sector in South Africa. We intend to generate the demand and use of environmentally responsible organisations by participating in the global initiative to create the awareness of environmental consideration of our planet.

Mission
Eco Standard’s mission is to establish a valuable portfolio of certified and rated products, manufacturers and/or services who have been awarded with an Eco Standard label for their transparency and outstanding environmental practice.
A South African developed Eco labelling standard specifically designed for the South
African environment and economy
The assessment criteria has been developed to encourage cradle to cradle practice
Certified applicants must have met Eco Standard's robust environmental standard
Assessments are third party audited for the highest credibility
Eco Standard labels represent environmental excellence
Eco Standard labels illustrate the commitment to the reduction of negative
environmental practice
Annual criteria re-evaluation to maintain a current standard of excellence
Annual re audits to retain certification
Unsuccessful applicants will receive feedback on interventions to consider, and on
request, we will refer an environmental consultancy to assist the applicant.
Objectives
Our objective is to engage with government, major corporations and consumers to communicate the need for all sectors to participate in the movement toward environmental concern.
We are confident that in setting high environmental standards, represented in a brand trust mark, we will facilitate in the decline of green wash and increase the demand for certified products and practices.
Eco Standard’s brand trust mark will empower the South African community with the knowledge to make responsible evironmental choices that will ultimately benefit people and the planet.
